Abstract

This chapter examines the preventative steps Pakistan took at various stages of the epidemic, evaluating the effectiveness of each step based on how many patients were actively ill, how many recovered, and how many people died. Over two million people have died as a result of COVID-19, which initially surfaced in December of 2019, and the figure is still rising. While some nations have been able to successfully contain the threat, others are still having trouble. It is crucial that we examine the steps taken by these nations so that others might adopt those strategies and successfully combat the pandemic. Pakistan is one of the nations that has been effective in restricting the virus's spread and the associated mortality. The government's inability to enact strong lockdowns and travel bans as a result of the population's financial instability was the primary factor in the virus's spread. New tactics that promised to be more effective in limiting the spread were presented as time went on. One of the tactics involved implementing a smart lockout once a "track and trace" method had been successfully implemented. Furthermore, ‘lockdown vs. livelihood’ calculation, intra-city travel bans, procuring foreign aid, provision of medicinal supplies and incorporation of media helped Pakistan limit the spread of the virus. These models can also be incorporated in other countries facing the virus, resulting in decreased number of active patients and deaths. These strategies might help the world overcome this pandemic.
